A Little Bit About My Teaching Philosophy...
I strive to teach the significance of music in society and of the potential for personal growth through music study. A constructivist approach to education supports student-centered, active learning, and this is how I approach teaching my students. My students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills so they can become their own teachers. As an engaging educator, I have a positive and energetic attitude while teaching. I create a safe learning environment where students feel valued and comfortable. Students have different learning styles and I can adapt to their needs and ways of learning. I build relationships with students and mentor and guide them, helping them explore the possibilities for their musical growth.
Additional Lesson Info
Lessons are geared towards overall musicianship. Besides learning the flute, students will also study music theory, ear training, and music history. Students are required to keep a practice journal with weekly lesson assignments.
When Should I Start Taking Lessons?

Lessons are available for a variety of ages. Depending on the maturity of students, beginner lessons start at 9 years or older. Lessons are structured according to the individual, whether a beginner, wanting to pursue music as a career, or as an amateur looking for musical enrichment. Music is a wonderful creative outlet, perfect for all ages.
Laura is available to teach private lessons, master classes, ensemble coachings, and as a freelance performer for weddings, church services, and other special events.
